FemiCore Microbiome Balance: What the Label Line Can and Cannot Show

Quick answer

FemiCore microbiome balance is one of three claims on the bottle, marked with a dagger that points to the FDA statement. Behind it sit five Lactobacillus strains in a 50 mg blend. No CFU count is printed, and no trial of the capsule exists. The claim is a wish, not a result.

The claim

What does FemiCore microbiome balance mean?

FemiCore microbiome balance is a structure/function line printed on the front of the bottle, next to "Healthy Urinary System" and "Bladder Control Support". It says the product aims to support a mix of microbes. It does not say the mix was measured or changed.

The dagger after the words points to the FDA box on the label. That box states that the claims have not been evaluated by the agency and that the product is not meant to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease (21 CFR 101.93, structure/function claims).

The sales page goes further. It says the formula is "designed to support bladder health by targeting the microbiome imbalance". That sentence names no study and no measurement. We read it as a goal of the designers, not a finding.

So the useful question is simple. What on the label could plausibly serve that goal, and how much of it is printed?

The strains

Which bacteria sit behind the microbiome claim?

Five Lactobacillus strains sit behind the claim: crispatus LCr86, acidophilus LA88, plantarum N13, gasseri LG08 and casei LC16. Together they share a 50 mg probiotic blend, listed from heaviest to lightest.

A strain code is the part after the species name. It matters because effects belong to a strain, not to a genus. A benefit seen with one strain does not carry over to another (NCCIH, Probiotics).

GenusLactobacillus

Speciescrispatus

Strain codeLCr86

A probiotic's effect belongs to the strain, the code after the species name, not to the species in general (NCCIH, Probiotics) (NIH ODS, Probiotics). Two strains of one species can behave differently, so research on "L. crispatus" in general does not transfer to LCr86.

The five strains in the 50 mg FemiCore probiotic blend, in label order. Weights are label-order ceilings; no CFU count is printed, so the number of live cells is unknown.

Searched October 2026. LCr86 has one completed placebo trial (80 women, 10 billion CFU a day by mouth, 8 weeks, vaginal Nugent score) with no results posted (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT06830122, LCr86). "Lactobacillus" species were renamed in 2020 (for example L. casei is now Lacticaseibacillus casei); labels often keep the old names.

Of the five, only LCr86 has any trial record that we found: one completed industry study in 80 women, taken by mouth, measuring a vaginal score (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT06830122, LCr86). No results were posted. For the other four codes we found no published trial at all.

The numbers

How many live bacteria does a FemiCore capsule hold?

Nobody outside the maker can say how many live bacteria a FemiCore capsule holds, because the label prints a weight and not a CFU count. CFU means colony-forming units, a count of cells that can grow.

Weight is a poor stand-in. NIH notes that label weight includes dead cells and advises looking for a CFU figure stated at the end of shelf life (NIH ODS, Probiotics). A capsule could hold few live cells and still reach 50 mg.

The label order also gives us ceilings. Line k of a blend weighs at most the total divided by k, so the five strains cap at 50, 25, about 17, 12.5 and 10 mg. These are limits, not amounts. The last strain could be tiny.

The link

Does a balanced microbiome help the bladder?

Researchers study the link, but no cited source shows that swallowing these strains improves bladder control. The best-known result concerns a different strain, a different route and a different problem.

In one trial, a single L. crispatus product placed in the vagina cut the return of bacterial vaginosis from about 45% to about 30% (Cohen et al. 2020, Lactin-V trial). That product is vaginal, not a capsule, and the outcome was not leaks.

Vaginal communities also vary between healthy women. A mix with few lactobacilli is common in some groups and is not automatically a fault (Ravel et al. 2011, vaginal microbiome). "Balance" is therefore not one target that everyone should hit.

For repeat urinary infections, NICE calls the lactobacillus evidence inconclusive (NICE NG112, recurrent UTI). Our urinary microbiome guide walks through the basics.

Deciding

Should you buy FemiCore for microbiome balance?

Buy it only if you accept that the claim is unproven and you are happy with a trial run. Choose the smallest pack that gives you an honest test, then keep notes on your own symptoms.

Read the probiotic strains page first, and ask a pharmacist before starting if your immune system is weakened. Probiotic risks are higher in people with severe illness or weak immunity (NCCIH, Probiotics).

Keep taking any prescribed medicine as directed. A capsule is not a substitute for care, and blood in the urine, fever or back pain call for a clinician the same day.

FAQ

Microbiome balance questions, answered

Is FemiCore a probiotic?

Partly. Each capsule holds a 50 mg probiotic blend of five Lactobacillus strains next to a 350 mg herbal blend. The label prints no CFU count, so the number of live cells is unknown.

Does FemiCore need refrigeration?

The label says to store it in a cool, dry place and gives no refrigeration direction. Keep the bottle closed, away from heat and out of reach of children.

Which FemiCore strain has been studied?

Only L. crispatus LCr86 has a trial record we could find: one industry study in 80 women with no posted results. We found no published trial for the other four codes.

Can antibiotics cancel out the probiotic?

No cited source answers that for this capsule. Antibiotics can disturb the microbiome, so ask the prescriber or a pharmacist how to time any supplement around a course.
