How Long Can You Take Uva Ursi Safely?
How long can you take uva ursi? The European Medicines Agency monograph says no longer than one week, and to see a doctor if symptoms last over four days. That guidance covers a traditional herbal medicine for mild urinary symptoms. FemiCore is a 30-day bottle with bearberry as line 3 of 4, at most about 117 mg a capsule.

The limit
How long can you take uva ursi?
You can take uva ursi for no longer than one week at a time, according to the EMA monograph on the leaf (EMA, Uvae ursi folium (bearberry leaf)). That is the only duration limit in our cited sources.
The same monograph says the herb is for adult women only, and only for mild, recurrent lower urinary symptoms of the traditional kind. If symptoms last more than four days, you are told to see a doctor.
It also notes that no clinical studies of leaf-only products were found. So the one-week limit is a precaution built on traditional use, not on a trial that tested longer courses.
Uva ursi and bearberry are two names for the same plant, Arctostaphylos uva-ursi.
The label
Is a 30-day bottle with bearberry a problem?
It is a mismatch worth naming. FemiCore lists bearberry leaf in its herbal blend, and the label suggests one capsule daily, so one bottle runs 30 days. The EU guidance for the leaf stops at seven.
The mismatch is not proof of harm. A capsule holds a blend, and bearberry is only line 3 of 4 in 350 mg. Label order caps it at 350 divided by 3, about 117 mg, and the true amount could be far lower.
We still cannot tell you whether that amount is safe for a month, because the label prints no single amounts and our sources set no limit for blends. A monograph about the leaf does not automatically govern a capsule that contains some of it.
| Item | Length |
|---|---|
| EMA monograph, leaf | No longer than 1 week |
| See a doctor if symptoms last | Over 4 days |
| One FemiCore bottle | 30 days at 1 capsule a day |
EU guidance limits the leaf to a week. FemiCore asks for daily use until the bottle ends. Ask your clinician or pharmacist about that gap before you start.
Arithmetic
How much bearberry could a capsule hold?
A capsule could hold up to about 117 mg of bearberry leaf, and it could hold much less. The label prints only the 350 mg total.
Lines in a proprietary blend are listed heaviest first, so each one is capped by the total divided by its place in the list (21 CFR 101.36, supplement labeling). Mimosa pudica could take most of the weight, which would leave bearberry very little.

RuleA proprietary blend lists its lines from most to least by weight and prints only the total (21 CFR 101.36, supplement labeling).
SoLine 2 cannot outweigh line 1, so it holds at most half the blend; line 3 at most a third; line k at most total/k.
LimitsCeilings, not amounts: a lower line can be tiny. Probiotic weight is not a CFU count, and the label prints no CFU.
Each circle's area is drawn to scale with its ceiling. Our arithmetic from the label, not a lab test.
Read each circle as a ceiling and never as a dose. A ceiling tells you what cannot be exceeded, which helps with safety limits and says nothing about what is inside.

Who should not use uva ursi at all?
Women with kidney disorders must not use it, says the EMA monograph (EMA, Uvae ursi folium (bearberry leaf)). Side effects listed there are nausea, vomiting and stomach ache.
LiverTox found no liver-injury signal for bearberry, scored E (NIH LiverTox, Uva Ursi). That is reassuring about one organ and silent about the rest. Pregnancy and breast-feeding are not covered by the sources we cite, so we state nothing about them. The FemiCore label tells pregnant or nursing mothers, under-18s and anyone with a known medical condition to ask a physician first.
Keep taking prescribed medicine, and never stop it because of a supplement. A supplement can interact with medicines, so a pharmacist should see the full label (NCCIH, Using Supplements Wisely). Read our bearberry ingredient page for the full picture.
Decide
What should you do before a month of FemiCore?
Take the label and this guidance to a clinician or pharmacist before you begin a full bottle. Ask directly whether a daily blend with bearberry fits your history.
If urgency or burning is why you are looking, see someone about the symptoms first, because an active infection needs care and not a supplement (CDC, About UTIs). The side effects page lists warning signs.
The sales page shows $79 a bottle on two, $69 on three and $49 on six, with a 60-day guarantee badge.

FAQ
Uva ursi duration questions, answered
What happens if you take uva ursi for too long?
Our sources set a one-week limit but do not describe what happens beyond it. The EMA lists nausea, vomiting and stomach ache as side effects. Stop and call a clinician if you feel unwell.
Can you take uva ursi every day for a month?
EU guidance says no longer than one week. No cited source supports a month of the leaf, so a daily month-long product should be discussed with a clinician first.
Is uva ursi the same as bearberry?
Yes. Both names point to Arctostaphylos uva-ursi, a low evergreen shrub. The FemiCore label prints it as bearberry and lists the leaf.
Does a weekly break make uva ursi safe?
No cited source says so. The monograph gives a one-week limit and nothing about repeat courses, so ask a pharmacist before cycling it.
