Pelvic Organ Prolapse Bladder Symptoms: What to Look For
Pelvic organ prolapse bladder symptoms include a feeling of pressure or a bulge in the vagina, leaks, a weak stream and a sense that the bladder is not empty. Prolapse is a structural problem, so a capsule is not shown to move an organ back. A pelvic exam is how it is found, and FemiCore makes no prolapse claim.

The condition
What is pelvic organ prolapse?
Pelvic organ prolapse happens when the muscles and tissue that hold the pelvic organs weaken, and an organ drops toward or into the vagina. The bladder, the uterus and the rectum can all be involved (MedlinePlus, Pelvic Support Problems).
Mayo names vaginal childbirth as the most common cause. Multiple deliveries, older age, obesity, prior pelvic surgery, chronic constipation, chronic cough and family history add risk (Mayo Clinic, pelvic organ prolapse). The World Health Organization notes that menopause can weaken pelvic support (WHO, Menopause fact sheet).
Some people have no symptoms at all, and treatment is often nonsurgical (Mayo Clinic, pelvic organ prolapse).
It is common and treatable. Nobody needs to be embarrassed by it, and you do not have to wait until it is severe to ask.
Signs
What are the bladder symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse?
The bladder symptoms are leaks, urgency, a weak or slow stream and a feeling that you did not finish. Some women also notice pressure or a bulge, worse at the end of the day.
- A heavy or dragging feeling low in the pelvis
- A soft bulge at or beyond the vaginal opening
- Leaks with coughing or lifting, or a sudden urge
- Needing to press or change position to empty
- Frequent urinary infections
- Trouble keeping a tampon in
Mayo and MedlinePlus list these among prolapse symptoms, including frequent or incomplete urination, a weak stream and repeat infections (Mayo Clinic, pelvic organ prolapse) (MedlinePlus, Pelvic Support Problems). Not every leak means prolapse. Stress, urge and mixed leaks are common without it, and the types are sorted below (Mayo Clinic, urinary incontinence causes).
Stress leaks
A spurt when you cough, sneeze, laugh, lift or jump.
First stepsSupervised pelvic floor muscle training for at least 3 months.
Urge leaks
A sudden, strong need to go, then leaking on the way.
First stepsBladder training for at least 6 weeks; try less caffeine.
Mixed
Stress and urge leaks together.
First stepsPelvic floor training plus bladder training.
Overflow
Dribbling from a bladder that does not empty well.
First stepsNeeds a clinician's check; Kegels help less here.
Functional
The bladder works, but reaching the toilet in time is hard.
First stepsMobility, clothing and bathroom access come first.
Types from Mayo Clinic and MedlinePlus (Mayo Clinic, urinary incontinence causes) (MedlinePlus, Urinary Incontinence); first steps from NICE and Cochrane (NICE NG123, incontinence in women) (Cochrane, PFMT for incontinence) (Mayo Clinic, Kegel exercises). A clinician can tell which type you have.
Care
How is pelvic organ prolapse treated?
It is treated by watching, training, a support device called a pessary, or surgery. The choice depends on how much it bothers you.
MedlinePlus names Kegel exercises, a pessary, medicines and surgery (MedlinePlus, Pelvic Support Problems). For the leaks of the stress or mixed kind that often come with weak support, NICE advises supervised pelvic floor muscle training for at least three months, with at least eight contractions three times a day (NICE NG123, incontinence in women).
| Option | What it involves |
|---|---|
| Observation | Check-ups, plus easing constipation and cough |
| Pelvic floor training | Supervised sets over months |
| Pessary | A fitted support worn in the vagina |
| Medicines or surgery | Chosen by a clinician when other steps are not enough |
A clinician chooses among them after an exam. Do not try to push anything back yourself.
Pelvic floor sets are the one step you can start now. Find the muscles, hold about three seconds, relax about three, and build toward 10 to 15 contractions a set. Do not use Kegels to start and stop your stream (Mayo Clinic, Kegel exercises).

Can a supplement help pelvic organ prolapse bladder symptoms?
No supplement is shown to correct prolapse. FemiCore's front claims are "Healthy Urinary System", "Bladder Control Support" and "Microbiome Balance", and none mentions prolapse.
No trial of the capsule exists, and its label prints no amounts. Cranberry has research for repeat infections in some women, which is a different goal (Cochrane 2023, cranberries and UTI).
If a capsule were added, it should sit beside examination and training. It must not delay a visit, because incomplete emptying and repeated infections need a clinician.
Keep taking prescribed medicine as directed, and tell the examining clinician about every supplement you use.
See someone
When should you see a doctor about prolapse symptoms?
See one soon if you feel a bulge, cannot empty your bladder, or have leaks that disrupt your day. NIDDK advises seeing a professional promptly for frequent urges or leaks (NIDDK, bladder control problems in women).
Get same-day care for fever, severe pain, an inability to pass urine at all, or heavy bleeding. Any bleeding after menopause needs a call (Cleveland Clinic, postmenopause). Pelvic exams are routine for clinicians, and you can ask for a female clinician if that helps.

FAQ
Prolapse questions, answered
Can prolapse cause urinary tract infections?
MedlinePlus lists frequent urinary infections among prolapse symptoms. Incomplete emptying may be part of why. Repeated infections are a reason to ask for an exam, not a reason to wait.
Do constipation and a chronic cough matter for prolapse?
Mayo lists chronic constipation and chronic cough among risk factors, so easing both is sensible. A pelvic health physiotherapist can build a plan around them.
Is prolapse the same as a bladder leak?
No. Prolapse is an organ dropping; a leak is a symptom. They can occur together, and an exam tells them apart.
